New RosesJoin us as we look at pictures of some of the new roses coming out on the Market this year that are exceptional and
good to plant in our area. Get a Jump on the rest of the garden world!
Also: What are Banker roses? A discussion of reliable roses that are already on the market that exhibit well and make
good plants for your garden.

YOUR 2 CENTS WORTH!
We want to hear your suggestions for the coming year. We are going to introduce the leadership of the society for
the new year. We are also asking members what they will contribute in time and effort to the years agenda.
We have so much experience and hope that others will enhance the rose experience for all.

Making a healthy garden the organic way. Pruning with a mind to
the final size of the bush, and how to get the most blooms on your bushes!
2. Pruning roses to compete in the Rose Show in June. by Sharon Fotheringham
How to prune and to grow a winning rose or a rose spray. This is pruning for exhibition.

A discussion of how to prepare for donated roses from your garden for the Rose Auction in April

OUR ANNUAL ROSE AUCTION! Beautiful and Rare Roses Auction, Benefiting the society and our annual projects!
This event is Open to all members and advertised to all of the general Public.
Auctioneer Bob Bauer will get things rolling and keep the action strong!
Please Open Up Your Wallet, and plan to spend money on your garden, this is a fundraiser for the society!
Members of the society will donate rare or other roses from their garden, as well as other donated home and garden products to auction
And share with all.
The society will purchase minis and minifloras to auction as well.
Please: We would like to know the names of the roses you are going to donate in advance.

SATURDAY ROSE WORKHSOPS AND SEMINARS! AND VENDOR FAIR!
VENDOR FAIR: Vendors from around the valleys will be here to show and sell their roses, fertilizers and necessary gardening supplies to the members of the Society and to the public. The Workshop are open to all who wish to learn these skills.
We will be sponsoring workshops for Floral arranging and Rose Photography Techniques in preparation for the June District Rose Show:

Modern or Artist Arrangements By Elise Hutchings
Rose Photography workshop By Bob Bauer Bring Your Camera! - Bob will show you how anyone can take great rose pics for your general use and the also explain rules for entering the district rose photography classes.
There will be a fee of $5.oo per workshop to pay for supplies provided
We will be selling Treats ( cookies, breads, pies, & etc) for anyone visiting us that day to munch on.

This Year, we are happy to be the hosts for the American Rose Society District Rose Show! All members and the
general public are invited to participate in this Rose Show Competition.
A detailed schedule will be
posted to the website with all activities provided with the Rose Show.
Rose exhibitors & rose lovers
from Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and a small part of New Mexico will be invited to participate.
Activities will be announced as soon as available. ( tours, classes, banquets, etc.)

JULY '11
ROSES FOR PATRIOTS Society members and the public will
contribute roses, vases and arrangement materials to construct arrangements for our wounded or ill Veterans in the VA Hospital. They will be donated to them to thank them for their service to the country. The donations will be made as soon as they are done.
This Meeting will be aPot-luck AND bring your own meat to throw onto the barbeque!

Hosted Garden Meeting At A Member's Home - Pest Management Discussion
A discussion on Pest Management in the local garden. We will probably have this discussion at the home of a local society member, so we can see the of the problems of a normal rose garden.
The place of the discussion will be announced as soon as we have a brave volunteer willing to show their rose pests.
Potluck Dinner. Bring Your best summer dishes to share with your friends!

Audio Visual Presentation of the Types and Classifications Of Roses
Informational meeting about all of the many different types of Roses and which roses to use for what purposes.
What are the best roses to grow in Utah will also be discussed. This is geared to the rose grower who wants a more detailed
explaination of the types of Roses.
Bob Bauer our resident photography and rose variety expert will be leading the Discussion and showing many
of his lovely rose photographs to the rosarians in attendance. This is a discussion you will not want to miss.

Rose Garden Design including Companion Plantings
A local Landscape designer and Horticulturalist, Richard Fotheringham will be leading a discussion about good rose
garden design and what plants are good to grow next to your roses. Richard graduated from Utah State
University as a Horticulturalist and has worked with several companies in the area.

The Rose society will be playing Santa for a needy cause. We have discussed
helping the women and children in the Womens Shelter
for Christmas.
